It's gettin' a little bit redneck!

Don't worry, I have her mother's permission to post this picture. In fact, it was her idea to put the pastie over her "mosquito bite". I just don't understand why the neighbors across the street want to move!

And that's her mother in the tree. It might explain her daughters a little bit!

Who needs a pool? We've got a cooler full of water.

"Ummm, this is kinda boring..."

I've just gotten a glimpse into their golden years.

They would be a cute couple! (although he is already betrothed to her little sister, and they are planning on having 5 children when the time is right.)

Just sending the baby to sweep the sidewalks

Paige found Travis's pink tank top (that's a whole other blog post, and really not my post to share), and she got so excited. She kept saying, "My Dress! My Dress!" Then there was a pretty wicked tantrum once we took it away from her.

Two Hot Mamas (or Spicy Mamas as Paige would say)

Jack got a new Spiderman scooter for a graduation gift. There is actually some controversy to this gift, because he threw the meltdown of all meltdowns when we went to Target to buy it for him. (He wanted the action figure, Green Lantern instead.)

Super Beagle!

This does look like my kind of prank, but I actually had no hand in this (it's what happens when I'm playing fast cash on Facebook Family Feud...). I'm glad to see that my sense of humor has been passed down to my children. And doesn't Penny look happy? No, that's not a snarl--she's laughing!

I think we need a cape for Bailey: she looks awfully jealous!

Penny: This is still funny to you people?!

Penny: I swear I will bite you once you put that camera down!

Quality Quiet Time

Jack went to a birthday party where he was given a 65 piece jigsaw puzzle as a party favor. Best present ever! He worked on that Mickey Mouse puzzle 2-4 times a day for a couple of weeks. Knowing he'd get bored soon, I got him a 100 piece Spiderman puzzle and put it away in his closet. He found it today, and asked to get it out at quiet time. (A side note here, "quiet time" has replaced his nap time over the last year, and in the last couple of months it's gotten fairly rambunctious and not so quiet.) I thought he had fallen asleep, but when I went to check on him, he was happily putting the puzzle together. It took him just under 3 hours to finish, and he never once asked for help! What a good day...

Totally unrelated to the puzzle, I'm looking at this picture of him, and wow--he looks so grown up! I don't know if it's his new haircut, but when did he get so old? Doesn't smoking stunt growth? I think I'll start giving him cigarettes--just kidding!!

Pomp and Circumstance

Today was Jack's graduation from his 3&4 year old preschool class. I snapped a quick photo on our drive to school today. No jitters for him!

Miss Paige of course trying to steal the scene. Is this a hint of their future relationship with each other??

I'm just a little proud!

Grandma Rosie made a good stand in for Rich, who unfortunately couldn't be here today due to a business trip.

This is Thomas, who probably will have a future in stand up comedy when he's older. I think he's just adorable, and he's such a sweetie! He's moving on to Kindergarten next year, so Jack is really going to miss him.

Jack and Paige love this song, but you can see that Jackson, the little boy in red (behind Jack) is not enjoying this event nearly as much. He cracks me up!

Jack caught me by surprise over the weekend when he was singing this song. He forgot some of the words when he was practicing, so I helped him out. When we got to the part about "Root Root Root for the Home team", I first tried to tell him that it was Root Root Root for the Cubbies, but he wasn't buying that at all. When I tried to tell him the true words, he corrected me that we're rooting for the Horn team...whatever that is.

Aww, I love him! He is such a cutie and so affectionate.

Jack's First Preschool Year in Review

Since Jack's graduation today, I decided to go through a CD of pictures that Jack gave me for Mother's day. The pictures were taken all year by his teacher Mrs. Cooper, and there were a total of 272 photographs, so be thankful I'm only showing 14! It's hard to believe that a whole school year has gone by already.

He loves this art table--I have a lot of pictures of him at this table using up all of the stickers.

I think he smuggled his sunglasses into school this day, which leads me to have some guesses on where he lost his old pair...

At the beginning of the school year, I really worried that he didn't play with any friends, but he got more social as the year went on.

I think this was one of their "transportation" days, and I'm guessing they have made a bus.

Future Archaeologist?

I don't think they are boycotting...actually they are waving their USA flags in support of the Winter Olympics.

Last September, Jack started school as a very shy boy, and was a little insecure about going to school on his own. He was very brave and had a great attitude about learning, so he didn't let his insecurities get the better of him. He has grown so much: He writes his name, identifies his ABCs, has gotten to be more confident with his friends, and has developed a true love of stickers. He takes school very seriously, and consequently he spouts off random information to me when I least expect it. Don't ever try to get any information on how his day was at school, because he doesn't seem to remember what he learned or what they talked about. (The only thing he could tell me is what he had for snack.) There are times he'll just break into a song that I didn't know that he knew, or he'll just walk across the room like a crab. When asked where he learned these things, he responds (usually) "in school", but the tone of voice is saying, "DUH!!" (His other answer is "because I just know it: I'm smart.")

I was afraid to tell him that he was going to have a different teacher next year, but he asked about school next fall, so I decided to be truthful. I thought he would be devastated that he wouldn't be in Mrs. Cooper and Mrs. Rose's class any more, but he had such a healthy attitude about getting a new teacher and meeting new friends. When I asked if he would be sad about not seeing his beloved teachers from this year, he told me that he wasn't because he would see them around and he could give them a hug anytime! Whooo, sigh of relief!

What Happens in the Eastland House Stays in the Eastland House

Yes, those are Paige's panties flung over our railing upstairs, as well as Jack's dog Charlie. I swear we don't live in a frat house, but this is why we frown upon Jack and Paige playing upstairs without supervision.

Spring has Sprung (finally!)

The kids are very excited about their new shades. Everywhere we go, they have to show them off to the people they meet. Our poor waiter at The Olive Garden had to hear about Paigie's sunglasses every time he came to our table. Hmm, maybe that explains his long absences.

It didn't take them long to trash the front yard!

How Rich is earning his Father's Day gift

Super Random (Jack's new alter ego)

Jack made this "Scuba Diving" mask in preschool, and wore it most of the day. I'm thinking he looks like the newest villain from a slasher movie, but what do I know?

Don't worry, this is my lip gloss on her face--not blood or scabs. She's going through a "I can do it myself!" (insert some nasty attitude when you imagine her saying this.)

Rich came home to get some work done, and Jack felt inspired to get some work done on his computer, too.
